Meet The Staff

Laurie – Practice Administrator

Laurie Sizemore joined Dr. Harold Fagan’s Staff in October of 2002 as his Practice Administrator. Although a native of Old Saybrook, Connecticut, Laurie’s education and extensive experience in Dentistry have been in the Washington, DC area.

Throughout her 33 plus years in dentistry she has worked with an Oral Surgery Practice, a General Dentistry Practice, an Advanced Restorative and Cosmetic Dental Practice, a Myofascial Pain and Musculo-skeletal Pain Practice, and an Orthodontic Practice. Laurie’s current position is as the Practice Administrator for Dr. Harold Fagan. Laurie manages the day to day operations as administrator and supervisor to eight full time staff members in Dr. Fagan’s Periodontal and Dental Implant Practice and has done so for nearly 5 years.

Laurie received her Bachelor of Science Degree from the American University in 1977. She has had many years of post-graduate training related to dentistry in the clinical and management arenas including the year-long Levin Group – Practice Management Program and a year-long Implant Marketing and Management Consulting Program. She is well trained in the clinical aspects of Periodontics and Implant Dentistry.

Beyond Laurie’s many accomplishments, she is the mother of two wonderful sons, three terrific step children and is a grandmother to one beautiful granddaughter. She currently resides in Ashburn, Virginia with her husband, R. Tom Sizemore, III, M.D. She enjoys traveling, golf, reading, cooking, gardening and decorating their new home.

Rebekah – Patient Treatment Coordinator

As a native of Northern Virginia, Rebekah began working in dentistry in 1997. She worked in a General Dental Practice where she was a Dental Assistant for five years before relocating to Myrtle Beach, South Carolina. During her three years in South Carolina she worked in a General Dental Practice for four General Dentists, which also included an Orthodontist and a Periodontist. She worked as their administrative assistant at their very busy front desk. In addition to the six dentists, the practice employed eight Dental Hygienists.

Rebekah moved back to the Northern Virginia area in 2004 and then joined Dr. Fagan’s Periodontal and Implant Practice as their New Patient Treatment Coordinator. One of the many things that Rebekah enjoys most about her job are all the wonderful patients. She also enjoys the ability to continually refine her skills by taking classes in her area of expertise. Rebekah also maintains her membership with Dr. Fagan’s Synergy Implant Study Club, now in it’s 13th year.

Most of Rebekah’s free time is devoted to raising her daughter and participating in the many activities she is involved in.

Crystal – Implant Treatment Coordinator

Crystal, our Implant Treatment Coordinator, attended Northern Virginia Community College receiving her license in radiography in 2002. Shortly thereafter she received her license as a certified bone density equipment operator. In 2001 Crystal formed Blue Ridge Computing, a transcription business for physicians and dentists.

Crystal carried out many duties in the seven years she worked for a rheumatology and allergy practice in Northern Virginia including front desk managing, osteoporosis lectures and screenings for seniors, as well as radiology duties.

Crystal joined our practice in April of 2005 and is extremely excited and motivated to continue her education in the dental field. She is a very happy and enthusiastic person who enjoys working with the public as well as our referring dentists.

Some of her responsibilities as our Implant Treatment Coordinator include:

  • Representing the office in the dental community.
  • Educating patients, referring doctors and their staff on the benefits of dental implants.
  • Spending a great deal of time tracking patients and coordinating treatment plans with referring doctors offices to make sure each patient receives the greatest level of care possible.
  • Assisting referring doctors with difficult cases in their office (placing abutments, using correct tools, taking impressions, etc.)
  • Taking intraoral photographs to document our patient’s progress from the beginning to the end of treatment.
  • Lunch & Learns to help educate referring doctors and their staff.
  • Working closely with Dr. Fagan during initial consultations to make sure all questions are answered and each patient is comfortable with the treatment that is presented.

Crystal has taken several continuing education courses, some of which include:

  • Biomet 3i Advanced Implant Treatment Coordinator courses.
  • She is a member of Dr. Fagan’s Synergy Implant Study Club. She also helps organize the meetings.
  • Levin Group Implant Marketing & Management Consulting Program Graduate
  • Advanced Photoshop course to aid in manipulation and organization of intra-oral photographs taken in the office.
  • Completed course in Managing the Care of Patients with Bisphosphonate Associated Osteocrenosis May of 2007
  • Dental radiology safety seminar
  • CPR training

What brings Crystal the most joy is spending time with her two dogs, Mazzy and Itty Bitty.

Regina – Surgical Assistant

Regina is a native Washingtonian who attended Bennett College in Greensboro, North Carolina and The University of the District of Columbia.

Regina has worked as a Surgical Assistant in Periodontics for nearly 40 years. She has worked with Dr. Fagan’s Periodontal and Implant Practice for the last 12 plus years.

Regina has one daughter and has three grandchildren. She is an avid reader and belongs to a local women’s book club. She loves to travel and dance (hand-dance). Regina also owns a small boutique (Stockings & Stuff) in Washington, DC.

Linda – Surgical Assistant

Linda first joined Dr. Fagan’s Periodontal and Implant Practice in September 2003, as his Surgical Assistant. She has worked within the dentistry field for 10 plus years. Linda’s training and experience were obtained through the Alexandria Dental Assistant Training Program in Alexandria, Virginia. She later earned an Internship at Howard University School of Dentistry in Washington, DC. Prior to joining Dr. Fagan’s Periodontal and Implant Practice, Linda worked in a General Dental Practice for six years.

Linda’s recent accomplishments include an Associates Degree from Northern Virginia Community College (NOVA). Linda is currently working towards her Bachelors of Science Degree at a four year college, and hopes to be able to begin the Dental Hygiene Program at NOVA in the fall of 2008. Linda takes continuing education classes regularly to be able to maintain up to date knowledge and training in the following areas:

Wanda – Dental Hygienist

Wanda is originally from Maine and moved to Virginia in 1999. She graduated from Northeastern University in 1995 with a degree in Dental Hygiene. She also holds a degree in Media Studies from the University of Southern Maine.

Aside from working part-time in Dr. Fagan’s Periodontal and Implant Practice, she is an adjunct faculty member of the Northern Virginia Community College. She has been teaching dental hygiene for two years.

Wanda joined Dr. Fagan’s Periodontal and Implant Practice in 2006. She has particularly enjoyed working with periodontally involved patients and seeing their progress following active treatment.

During Wanda’s free time, she enjoys playing tennis, reading, and watching movies.

Mary Kay – Dental Hygienist

Mary Kay received her Bachelor of Science Degree in Dental Hygiene and Public Health from Old Dominion University in Norfolk, VA. She has worked as a Dental Hygienist in general dentistry for twenty years. Concurrently, Mary Kay was a consultant for the Mental Health and Mental Retardation facilities in Arlington and Alexandria, VA, for 10 years. In addition to her working with Dr. Fagan’s Periodontal Practice, Mary Kay worked as a consultant for Orapharma/Johnson and Johnson.

Mary Kay joined Dr. Fagan’s Periodontal Practice over 13 years ago. During this time her focus has been to facilitate comprehensive hygiene education and care to all of his patients. She maintains her dental hygiene license in the state of Virginia and is a member in good standing with the American Dental Hygiene Association and the Virginia Dental Hygiene Association.

Mary Kay attends continuing education courses on a regular basis to hone her hygiene skills and to offer her patients state-of-the-art dental care and instruction. She is an active member with Dr. Fagan’s Synergy Implant Study Club and co-host’s Orapharma’s ACE Round Table Discussions with other dental practices on a regular basis.

Mary Kay and her husband, Reno, live in Fairfax and have a married daughter and an adult son serving in the Army.
